The Alliance to End Hunger in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Environment Program (UN Environment), in conjunction with the Congressional Food Recovery Caucus, invite you to a Congressional briefing on reducing the environmental and social costs of food loss and waste in North America and around the world.

An estimated one third of all food produced globally is either lost or wasted, according to FAO. In an age where more than 820 million people go hungry, this is unacceptable. Food loss and waste represent a misuse of the labor, water, energy, land and other natural resources that went into producing it. Food embodies much more than what is on our plates. It is, therefore, important that we recognize, appreciate and respect the value of food.

This event will highlight a range of approaches to reduce food loss and waste, and strategies that are being adopted by governments, the private sector and non-profit organizations to minimize the impact of food waste.
