SNRE Professors Ivette Perfecto and Josh Newell along with SNRE Alumni Michelle Martinez and Jeff Gearhart will participate in a panel discussion on "Civic Engagement, Activism and the Environment."  The objective of the panel is to have an open discussion on civic engagement and activism and what this means to SNRE faculty and staff, alumni, and current students. Why does this discussion matter? As current and graduating SNRE students organizing this event, we and many of you - are interested in learning how to incorporate civic engagement and activism into professional and academic careers.
We highly encourage the SNRE community to participate in this discussion to hear the perspectives of faculty and alumni who currently integrate these matters into their own work.
The panel discussion will be held in the DANA Fourth Floor Commons on April 16, 2013 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
After the panelists have shared their experiences there will be a session for the audience to ask questions. We will then break into small groups to discuss the role of civic engagement and activism in our own academic and professional careers. We will end the panel discussion with a plenary where we hope to share experiences and learn how to better bridge these divides.
Dinner and refreshments will be served!
