Doctoral and masters students working on issues related to sustainability face special challenges in academia: projects that transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries, the incredible complexity of the questions that we ask, and uncertainty about the appropriate level of public engagement and advocacy, to name just three. At a university as big as Michigan, it can be difficult for students interested in sustainability to meet each other, or to hear from researchers who have experienced these kinds of challenges in their own careers.

As a follow-up to the Erb Institute's blockbuster inaugural event with Jane Dutton and Andy Hoffman, Shelie Miller and Sara Soderstrom will discuss their backgrounds, career choices, and interdisciplinary research. What has 'worked' for them and why.
