At this meeting, Josh Newell will share photographs and slides that document his career experiences, from the time he graduated from Brown University in 1991 to the present.  Josh lived and worked in Japan and Russia during the 1990s, while serving as a campaign manager for the environmental NGO, Friends of the Earth. A visual narrative tracks his migration from the forests of the Russian Far East, to COP3 (Kyoto) and the Seattle WTO, and finally to resource consumption in cities. Josh will also show photographs from his recent trips to China’s most important megacities, Beijing and Shanghai.  After the informal presentation, Josh will encourage the audience to reflect on the key leverage points for research and for galvanizing change in our ongoing effort to forge a more sustainable world.
