Did You Know?

The Kyoto Protocol came into force on February 16, 2005. Participating countries are targeting emissions reductions ranging from -8% to 10% of 1990 levels, with an overall reduction goal of 5% below the 1990 level from 2008 to 2012. In the United States, Senate Resolution 98 of the 105th Congress stated that the U.S. should not be a signatory unless developing countries participate in mandatory emission reductions. Accordingly, the United States has not ratified the Kyoto Protocol.
